Fifth Graders Cultivate Knowledge

To celebrate the culmination of the Cultivating Natural Resources unit, our fifth graders brought their learning to life through a series of engaging, hands-on activities centered around corn! Students enjoyed a friendly corn-shucking competition, tested their mathematical reasoning skills by estimating the number of kernels on an ear of corn, explored scientific concepts by creating oobleck from cornstarch and embraced their artistic sides by using ears of corn as paintbrushes. This memorable celebration brought together science, math and art while deepening students’ appreciation for the many uses of our natural resources.
